Bryan Adams has never really gone away. He has produced 17 studio albums, including one in 2025, and he is about to drop another on November 6, called How's It Goin'. The difference between the latest and those that came before is that the record is an ode to Canada, and not just a personal effort.
What fans can expect is a pure rock record, steeped in Adams' Canadian version of John Mellencamp's rootsy rock, and that is just fine. Adams perfected his sound decades ago, and he's never left it behind. But why make an album about Canada now?
"The idea was simply to make a record about Canada," said Adams, according to Louder. "It started with writing the song for the documentaryCanada’s Wild Eastern Edge, and after doing so much research, I was inspired to start writing more songs about Canada. Musically, it took me somewhere a little different too, which made the whole thing exciting."

The truth is that Canadians might have never been more bonded. Because of the political ramifications of the United States tariffs and encroachment on all things Canadian (at least, that might be how many feel north of the American-Canadian border), Adams' songs about his home nation should be full-throated and honorable.
Since his debut in 1980 with his self-titled debut album, he has had 12 top-10 albums in Canada and four in the United States. He has had 17 top-10 singles in the Great White North and 11 in the country to the south of it.
He has kept up a string of gems worthy of being heard, but the issue is that many of the songs that Bryan Adams releases don't really fit with modern terrestrial radio. That is more pure pop or alternative rock. Adams doesn't really fit classic rock, either.
While he has a lot in common with Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen, his Canadian brand of the sound might not be quite as resonant. Not that Adams likely cares, and he shouldn't. Instead, he is making the music he likes, and songs he hopes Canada likes, on his latest LP.
