David Lee Roth might not be struggling for money, though to tell it, he has been just scraping by until recently. That is because eight months ago, he sold his publishing catalog to an unnamed buyer, and in return, Roth can finally "rub two coins together."
To be clear, Roth, the former frontman for the iconic Van Halen, should have made more than enough to survive, and he likely has. He is the master of hyperbole, and that's fine. That is part of his schtick, and he is quite good at that.
If someone wants one of the best showmen in music history to be part of their band, give David Lee Roth a call. He's the guy. It wasn't his fault that Van Halen got a bit more poppy and boring after he left. The band wanted to make ballads, and Roth didn't have the voice for that.
Former Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth is quite happy with his life
In a recent video interview with the Associated Press, Roth was asked how life was going, and he was quite pleased. That is when he informed the interviewer of the recent sale of the rights to songs in which he had written the lyrics. That includes his solo work, as well as the songs he did with Eddie Van Halen's group.
Roth said, "I sold my publishing eight months ago." He then asked the interviewer to ask him how he felt. To that, Roth answered, "Rich! For the first time in my life, I can rub two coins together and create a little interest."
The singer's net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth, is estimated to be $60 million. This money stems from touring, album sales, and other things. What we don't know is how much was most from his publishing rights, but that would seem to be quite a bit more than $60 million.
In other words, how much David Lee Roth is actually worth isn't known, but he has a big house in California, so we can assume he is doing just fine. While money cannot buy happiness, Roth seems very content, especially in the AP interview, which you can see below.
