You might have noticed there is a lot of drama involving politics intermingling with music and the performing arts. For instance, Jimmy Kimmel was recently suspended for a week by ABC for something he said on the air about the person who murdered Charlie Kirk.
His suspension is important for our subject here, which happens to be the social media feud between California Governor Gavin Newsom and musical act Kid Rock. The two have been squabbling for a while now, though Kid Rock often comes out looking silly because he doesn't have the political acumen of Newsom.
Unrelated directly to Newsom's official X handle, a handle called Governor Newsom Press Office has been trolling the way Donald Trump often created his social media posts. Like Trump, Newsom's tweets tend to have poor capitalization, questionable grammar, and hyperbolic language.
Gavin Newsom suspended Kid Rock from California is not what it seems
Does Gavin Newsom spend his time mocking others on social media? Maybe not as much as you think. One should not confuse Newsom's real account with the Press Office one. They are not one and the same.
Recently, the Press Office handle, in reaction to Kimmel being suspended by ABC (which was real), posted that Kid Rock had been "suspended" from performing in California. People took the tweet and ran with it, even though Rock has not actually been suspended. It was a joke.
BECAUSE OF HIS HORRIFIC MUSIC, CALIFORNIA WILL INDEFINITELY SUSPEND KID ROCK FROM PERFORMING IN THE GOLDEN STATE. YOU’RE WELCOME! — GCN

But that is part of what is wrong with social media as a whole. Many people have lost the ability to understand what is real and what is not. We've been generally gaslit by things we could not fathom to be true 15 years ago, but actually turn out to be now.
We too often get fooled by what we take as true even though it seems ridiculous. That is because the world is a fairly ridiculous place now.
But Kid Rock has not been suspended from playing shows in California, at least not yet. If you want to go see him should he play in Los Angeles, you can. But the Press Office handle has one thing right: Kid Rock's music is horrific.
