Drake loses big but will do it again (you can bet on it)

That's a lot.

Betting, of course, is easy to do if one has a lot of money. And I mean, a lot of money. Most of us don't have the cash that Drake does, for instance. His net worth is valued at $250 million, but he does seem to blow a bunch of it betting on sports.

The hip-hop star recently posted that he has wagered a bit more than $124 million over the last month alone. He didn't do a very good job of it, however, because he lost a bit over $8 million while doing so. That amount of money isn't much to someone who has $250 million, but it's kind of a slap in the face to us mere mortals.

Part of that loss might stem from a huge bet he placed on Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Drake put down $800,000 that the Thunder would win, and, therefore, take home the NBA championship.

Drake wastes his money and he has us to thank for it

The bet seemed like a relatively safe one, no matter how much money was placed. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton was hobbling with a calf injury, but as it turns out, he played just fine, and the Pacers defeated the Thunder.

Had OKC won, Drake would have made a profit of $934,000. Instead, he blew $800,000.

He likely will place another bet on Game 7, which will be held on Sunday, because, well...why not? He seems not to be disabused of his vanity project. If he loses money, fine. He has more than enough to overcome the loss.

Of course, like any entertainer, he has us to thank for his wealth. We buy his albums and stream his singles, and he makes money off of that. What he does with it is his business, sure, but we might feel a little envious, too. Not because we want to bet our money on things we cannot control (that is a rather silly idea), but because that is what he does with the money we spend on him.

Drake isn't the only celebrity or athlete to waste huge amounts of money on bets. NBA legend Michael Jordan has famously done the same. Still, the amount of money wagered is astonishing, not that it seems to matter to people worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
