Phil Collins - Serious Hits…Live

I’m not a great fan of greatest hits collections, especially since I already have many of the artist's albums. If you really like the artist then you’ll appreciate hearing the other album tracks too. But make it a live album and I’m much more interested. Especially if I have seen them live and can bring back the event when I hear the album.

That's entirely the case with this 1990 collection of Phil Collins songs played live. It’s exactly what the title promises, it’s a huge list of hits played live. It’s not concentrated on a particular gig, the songs are taken from a wide range of dates.

He was a huge artist back at that time, though, and this captures him showing why. His live shows were brilliant, and he delivered hit after hit. I was lucky enough to see him on tour a couple of times at his peak. And now, well, I reckon being cool is overrated. So I still like dropping this album into playlists or digging out the original CD and reminding myself of those shows and times.
