Good news!

While it might not feel as if Ghost has not put out an album in three years, it has. This is perhaps because the group produced a fantastic live album that accompanied a fabulous concert film, Rite Here Rite Now. That gem was released last July. The band has also seemingly not stopped touring for a few years now, as well.

The great part is that as Tobias Forge and his hired mates continue to perform live, Ghost will have a new album to tour behind. A 10-track record called Skeletá. The first single from the album, "Satanized," is already available to watch on YouTube and other outlets and to listen to on your favorite streaming service.

Even better, fans get a first glimpse of the new Papa. Papa V appears at the end of the video, and he certainly looks different and is far more modernized. Does this also imply a different direction for the band's music? Supposedly, the new album will have a more "personal" feel instead of the songs coming across as third-party observations.

Ghost set to release a new album in April

Of course, the trick with Ghost has always been that fans buy into the schtick of faux Satanism but with a definite nod to Christianity as well. No, the music is not Sunday morning songs, but framing the battle between light and dark has always been part of the band's image.

This remains with the new album as well. The song that follows "Satanized" on the tracklisting, for instance, is one called "Guiding Lights." The artwork for the album has a sunrise on one side and a sunset on the other. There is a clear attempt to show the contrasts between the two, and this is very likely to be a key theme of the album.

If the first single is any indication, Ghost fans are in for another treat of a record. There is not a long wait to hear it, either. Skeletá is scheduled to be released on April 25, 2025.

Skeletá tracklist:

  • 1. "Peacefield"
  • 2. "Lachryma"
  • 3. "Satanized"
  • 4. "Guiding Lights"
  • 5. "De Profundis Borealis"
  • 6. "Cenotaph"
  • 7. "Missilia Amori"
  • 8. "Marks of the Evil One"
  • 9. "Umbra"
  • 10. "Excelsis"
