Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson believes that one should know when to stop. Don't worry. He's still in great voice and not seemingly close to calling it quits. Others might not be so lucky.
In a recent interview with Kerrang!, Dickinson summed up the issue with musicians, especially singers, who keep trying to power through concerts and albums even when they are clearly straining to be as good as they once were. He delivered his observation in nine brilliant words: "When they can't sing anymore, they're not legends anymore."
Harsh, but sadly true. If one purchases a ticket to see a concert expecting to get their money's worth, and it is clear that the singer or some other musician is simply on the stage to get paid, knowing they cannot produce excellence as they once did, that person is basically cheating people out of their money.
Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson drops the brutal truth about the life of a singer
That's what Dickinson believes, at least. His logic is based on experience, both personal and what he has observed. He has earned the right to his view.
Dickinson added, "I couldn’t go onstage if I didn’t think I could do it. I don’t know how people get onstage when they can’t do it anymore. Obviously, it’s their life, but it’s not my way."
If you want to see if Bruce Dickinson still has the goods (here's a hint: He does), then you can judge for yourself by going to see Iron Maiden in concert.
