How exactly Netflix is going to pull off its halftime show between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings is anyone's guess. The fact is that there will simply be far too many elite performers to watch, and how are they going to fit into the span of 15 minutes? Maybe Netflix will make the show a bit longer.
The situation is this: Hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg will play host to the proceedings, and he will be joined by HUNTR/X voices: Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, and the growing legend that is country music star Lainey Wilson. One assumes Wilson will get the most airtime, but she surely cannot do too many songs in such a short amount of time.
Wilson is a two-time winner of the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year award, as well as winning Female Vocalist of the Year for the last four years. Her songs include "Things a Man Oughta Know" and "Somewhere Over Laredo." She brings a lot of energy to her live performances, so she would be worth watching alone.
Netflix set to deliver another great Christmas Day halftime show, this time featuring Lainey Wilson and Snoop Dogg
But Snoop is expected to deliver some of his own tracks. In other words, while viewers watching the Lions and Vikings will get quality entertainment midway through the game, it will be a mix of different genres. One might feel a bit dizzy from the different artists and their different styles.
Of course, Netflix is aiming for a winner just like it had in Christmas 2024 when Beyoncé turned in an iconic musical experience during halftime of the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans game. Queen Bey was so fantastic, Netflix made the performance into its own streaming event.
This will be the second straight year that Netflix broadcasts two NFL games. Last year, there was some trepidation about whether the streaming giant could deliver the goods without a glitch. It had struggled with problems in previous livestreams. The NFL games went off perfectly, though.
The first game of the day will feature the Dallas Cowboys traveling to play the Washington Commanders at 1 pm ET. The Lions will travel to play the Vikings in a game that will have a 4:30 pm ET kickoff.
Pop star Kelly Clarkson will also be a part of Netflix's coverage, beginning the day with her performing "Underneath the Tree." Netflix's gameday coverage on Christmas Day begins streaming at 11 am ET.
