An amazing list of the top compilation albums ever. Some expected albums make the top 20, but there are plenty of shocks and surprises on there too.

Joint 7 - Queen - Greatest Hits I - 25m

What a band! What a set of great hits, and this is just the first volume. We’ve already seen volume II at number nine here, and there was a volume III released later too. This album came out in 1981 and covered their early hits from 1974 through to 1981. To reach so many sales for just one set of hits is some achievement, as is a double listing on here for the second volume. 

Joint 7 - Journey - Greatest Hits - 25m 

Journey was clearly much, much more successful than I ever envisaged. This level of sales for their greatest hits totally shocked me. Perhaps many of you aren’t as surprised that this reached 25 million sales and is so high on this list. Packed with their hits, it’s a decent record, but so many other top bands didn’t reach this level and that’s a shock too. 

5 - Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend - 28m

This high selling album from the man and band who helped put reggae into the mainstream is quite amazing. The title is spot on too. In reflecting Bob Marley’s status. The album has many of the band's best known songs and is a great listen. Perhaps the different style and lack of other reggae albums at such a level give it an extra boost to this top five position.
