Barack Obama is officially opening his presidential library in Chicago, Illinois, on Thursday, July 18. He has always been a fan of music, of course, and that is shown by the musical guests who will be in attendance during the opening of the library.

The best part for fans of the president and the musicians? The event will be streamed at Obama.org starting at 11 am CT.

But who will be there? That's the fun part. The lineup includes Stevie Wonder, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Bono and the Edge of U2, Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Common, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Marc Anthony, the Roots, and Tems.

Barack Obama will open his presidental library with a lengthy list of music icons

In other words, something for everyone, unless one happens to be an outlaw country fan. Maybe an act from that subgenre can be added before the event to make the streaming even more diverse and interesting.

According to an Instagram post by the Obama Foundation and Michelle Obama, an invocation at the start of the opening will be given by Pastor Joel Hunter and Joshua DuBois. Other speakers include Marsai Martin, Marty Nesbitt, and Valerie Jarrett. The latter has been the chief executive officer of the Obama Foundation since 2021.

The library, in case you want to visit in the future, and why wouldn't you?, is located at 6001 South Stony Island Avenue in Chicago, and is located in Jackson Park on the south side of the city.

As far as how the music will be presented, that isn't yet known. One might assume all the musicians will perform, but how many songs each will do, or whether it will be more of a communal show with some artists performing together, isn't yet known.

Still, with the depth of the lineup and high-end talent, one can imagine that the free-to-stream concert would be one of the better free opportunities to watch music this summer. Maybe the library opening isn't a music festival, but it's not far off.

Imagine, if you will, Bruce Springsteen and the two members of U2 that will appear doing a tune together. Or Stevie Wonder and the Roots performing as one. Or all of them at the same time. The opportunities are endless, and they are all high-end chances.
