The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will give hip-hop further love in 2026 by inducting Wu-Tang Clan. The group is far from the first rap act to be enshrined, as Public Enemy and A Tribe Called Quest, to name two, are already part of the Hall. Wu-Tang's induction at least makes sense, as they have been tied to rock for quite some time.
They once toured with Rage Against the Machine and have a fantastic single with System of a Down, among other links. They are a deserving act and helped shape some of the more formidable bands in nu metal.
But who will be the one delivering the address to induct the band? Wu-Tang member RZA has thoughts. He recently gave a few suggestions in an interview with Rolling Stone, and the most notable of the names was Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States.
RZA of Wu-Tang Clan wants Barack Obama to do the group's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Obama was open about his adoration for hip-hop when he served in office. While RZA admitted that he had never met Obama, should the president choose to be a part of the ceremony, the move would make sense. And, let's be fair, that might be one of the cooler moments in Rock Hall history.
RZA said, "I’m doing one that’s going to be super egotistical, but probably the only person that I’m a superfan of that I never met: Barack Obama."
The other persons that RZA mentioned as ones he would like to induct Wu-Tang into the Rock Hall were Quentin Tarantino (whose Kill Bill films RZA scored), Leonardo DiCaprio, and LeBron James. All would be worthy, of course, and while all have achieved high success in their fields, none would rival the appearance of Barack Obama.
Music fans will likely not know for sure who will induct any of the performers and influencers until later in 2026. While the inductees are known, the ceremony to enshrine them will not occur until November 14. It will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, though it won't be broadcast or streamed until December (on ABC and Disney+).
The other inductees in the performers category include Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Sade, Iron Maiden (who won't attend the event), Joy Division + New Order, Luther Vandross, and Oasis. It is a stellar class.
