My Chemical Romance is being sued by Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders (yes, really)

Well, golly...

My Chemical Romance likes to be theatrical, of course. That is part of the schtick. The band is fun and campy, and just about everything you would want from an emo band. Only the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have a beef with them.

You see, at a concert on October 21 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the band was performing "Teenagers" as part of their Long Live the Black Parade tour when people dressed as Cowboys Cheerleaders appeared and then proceeded to get into a staged gunfight.

Was it all in jest? Sure, but Pro Silver Star Ltd., which owns the DCC trademark, didn't agree to let their brand be used the way MCR used it. One can probably understand. The DCC is an iconic part of the NFL, and seeing them shoot at others and be shot at themselves doesn't seem to go with what the brand is about.

Of course, when MCR brought the cheerleaders out, the song was fitting. Teenagers and cheerleaders tend to go hand in hand as part of high school lore. So both things can be true here.

According to The Wrap, Pro Silver Star Ltd. argued in a court filing last week, "On Oct. 21, 2026, Defendants staged ‘The Black Parade,’ a theatrical concert production set in a fictional dictatorship and featuring pyrotechnics and armed conflict...Audience members and online commentators understandably believed that the performers were the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and said so in social media posts that continue to circulate."

While some might laugh at people thinking that the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were brought out to perform, there have been social media posts appearing to think just that. It would seem a stretch for the band to bring the DCC all the way to Los Angeles to appear, especially as the band recently played shows in Texas, but anything could have been possible.

On an entirely different subject that could also be real eventually, at a recent concert in San Antonio, MCR vocalist Gerard Way told the audience that they "deserved" a new album from the band and then implied the group could be working on one. This might have only been concert talk, though.

My Chemical Romance hasn't put out a proper album since 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Perhaps once MCR is done with their current tour, which includes a leg in Asia at the end of 2026, the band can get into a studio and bang out a new album. That's the hope anyway.
