Just to get this upfront, this isn't about Oasis playing at halftime of Manchester City versus Liverpool on Sunday. That isn't going to happen. But Liam and Noel Gallagher don't need to do that to make what is likely already going to be a chaotic match even more so.

The Gallaghers are, of course, huge Man City supporters, and hail from Manchester. Their favorite club plays its first match after City was found guilty of breaking financial fair play rules and not cooperating with the investigation into it. That the match is against one of the club's biggest rivals at Anfield only adds to what should make for must-watch football.

Noel Gallagher didn't necessarily inflame the City situation in the last week, but certainly doubled down on his love of the club and his appreciation for its success over the last decade and a half. Not that Noel cares whether Oasis loses fans or not, but some might be boycotting the band because Noel refuses to disrespect his favorite team.

Oasis' Gallagher brothers are lighting a fuse under the Manchester City and Liverpool match

Meanwhile, Liam, knowing full well that Man City and Liverpool play on Sunday in a match that many hope City will lose after the ruling of guilt came out over the international break, said something that likely crossed the line in the minds of many who love rock music.

After tweeting about how the Premier League financial controls tend to favor the clubs that already have more than enough money to buy players while other clubs, like City, have to take forever to do the same (it is a weird system), Liam Gallagher then wrote that Oasis put the Liverpool-born Beatles "back on the map" and "which they no doubt directly profit from UNGRATEFUL little SODS."

Had Manchester City been facing a different club in a different city in their first game back after the charges and verdict were announced, Gallagher might have pointed out a group from that city. That it was Liverpool and the Beatles certainly made the whole thing more interesting.

There is no word on whether the Gallaghers will be at Anfield to watch the match. Noel seemingly goes to more and is often seen at home matches at the Etihad Stadium to watch Manchester City play. One wonders how dangerous the setting would be for anyone well known. The situation might unfortunately be an ugly one all around, especially for a rock & roll star.
