Oasis said they didn't want to make a documentary for the longest time, but the band also said it didn't care about being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Times change, and are changing.
The band has made a documentary of their hugely successful 2025 comeback tour, and it will be released for a limited time in theaters starting September 11. Soon after that, though the exact date isn't yet known, the unnamed film will be available to stream internationally on Disney+, and Disney+ and Hulu in the United States.
The doc is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, and will be produced by Steven Knight, creator of the excellent series Peaky Blinders. The film will feature rehearsal, backstage, and onstage access, according to Disney, including joint interviews with Liam and Noel Gallagher.
Oasis set to release documentary in September
In other words, if you didn't get to see the tour, you might get your Oasis fix with the documentary in September. Will it be the last time the band tours? That isn't known.
The truth is that Oasis hasn't said what the future holds. What wouldn't be surprising is if the group delivered an album at some point. After all, no one knew they'd be touring, either. So much money was made from the shows (it was the second-best-selling tour of last year) that free cash might be difficult to turn down if the offer to tour pops up yet again.
The most recent Oasis album was 2008's Dig Out Your Soul. Far from the band's best (that was likely one of the first two records the band released), the album wasn't bad, and certainly was better than some of their earlier 2000s albums.
The Gallagher brothers have also been busy musically over the last two decades with other projects, though they never overlapped with one another. This is all a long way of saying that while Oasis will deliver a documentary soon, that doesn't mean the band is done. With Oasis, there is always a chance of the band getting back together again.
