Music has always been one of the most important characters of the Peaky Blinders series. The sounds aren't seen, of course, but they are certainly felt, artistically and emotionally. Like any good show or film, music makes up more than half of the reason the project is good or not.
The newest installment of the iconic show will be released in movie form. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will be available in theaters on March 6, and along with it will be the release of the soundtrack. The latter will feature five all-new songs, as well as a re-recorded version of Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand," which is the theme song of the show.
One particular part of the soundtrack seems to have most-pleased star Cillian Murphy, who plays the lead role of Tommy Shelby. Murphy is of Irish descent, and one of the musical artists to have participated in the soundtrack iare members of Ireland's Fontaines D.C. They play on seven of the tunes on the tracklist.
Cillian Murphy excited to have Fontaines D.C. as part of the Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man soundtrack
Speaking recently with BBC Radio 1, Murphy, along with Fontaines D.C. vocalist Grian Chatten, spoke about the film and music in general, but the actor gushed over the inclusion of one of his favorite bands on the soundtrack.
Murphy said, "There’s certain music that just lends itself to Peaky Blinders. The Fontaines music seems to work, it has that outlaw quality, that dangerous quality...We’re just thrilled that somebody like Grian is now part of the Peaky sonic landscape."
Murphy also admitted to seeing the band several times in concert and called himself a "groupie" of the band. In other words, the music for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will definitely make Cillian Murphy happy, and likely most music lovers, too.
