Getting closer.

Fan voting has been open for the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees for about a month, and has about a month left. Voting runs through April 21. At the end of the voting, all the fan votes will be tabulated into one ballot.

Maybe, overall, the fan voting does not matter. A band does not want to lead the voting, only to be snubbed of induction. That might be like working hard at your job for years, but when all is said and done, all you get is a plague. Are you enshrined? No, but at least your plague says, "Leading vote-getter for 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame balloting."

Phish remains the leader through the first month, well ahead of everyone else. Does that matter? Will they be inducted? Maybe not. But a band gaining ground of late just might be.

One band has moved into second place in 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voting

Bad Company had been running at least third behind Billy Idol, but fans of the band have been active since last week. After trailing Idol by a little less than a thousand votes, Bad Company has surged past the punk star by more than 3,000.

At least most of the top six vote-getters are worthy of induction. That includes number four, Soundgarden. Pearl Jam and Nirvana are in the Rock Hall, and Seattle brethren Soundgarden deserves to be so as well.

Ones that have zero chance, at least as far as fans are involved, are Mexican pop-rock group Maná (who are currently on tour), and Oasis. Further proving the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is truly an American institution instead of as it should be (a global one), Phish has no real global footmark, is in first place while globally popular (but less so in the United States) Oasis is next to last.
