Saturday Night Live has upped its game as far as music guests go for the 2026/27 season. That includes the legendary sketch show having its first hardcore act on in decades. Turnstile unsurprisingly didn't disappoint on their October 3 episode.
But two upcoming shows will be can't-miss events, too.
On November 7, New York City's own, the Strokes, will make their fifth appearance on SNL. They will be the musical guest, while the episode will be hosted by Druski, a comedian and internet personality. That should be interesting.
The Strokes and Phoebe Bridgers will appear on upcoming episodes of Saturday Night Live
The Strokes released their latest album, Reality Awaits, in July. Was it the band's best of their seven studio albums? Not by a long way, but there are some decent songs. The assumption is that two newer ones will be performed by the band on their episode.
The following week (November 14), Saturday Night Live will feature the amazing Phoebe Bridgers. This will be her second time as a solo act on SNL, with her first time coming in February 2021. She also performed as part of boygenius in November 2023. That appearance was elite.
Bridgers' most recent LP was Lost Weekend, which was dropped in August this year. The record was her most commercially success of her three studio albums, at least upon initial release. The record reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts in the United States, and reached the top in Australia and the UK.
One will assume that she will also perform two newer songs, though she might be joined by some famous friends. No rumors exist about that currently, but with Bridgers, one never knows. She has collaborated with some excellent artists, and one of them joining her on SNL shouldn't be completely ruled out.
The Bridgers episode should be great all around. The host that night will be comedian John Mulaney, a former writer at Saturday Night Live, who has hosted the show six times. All of his appearances have been terrific, but to have Phoebe Bridgers perform only augments the chances that the episode will be among the best of the season.
The October 31st episode will feature a non-rock-adjacent musical guest, Gracie Abrams, a good friend of Taylor Swift. Inde Navarrette will be the host on what will hopefully be a spooky episode. It is Halloween, after all, so that should be what happens.
