In honor of the Grammy awards, here are a few artists who have won the most Grammys of all time. This list leads up to the artists who have the most. The second-best might surprise you.
Who has the most wins in Grammy Awards history?
Aretha Franklin (18)
Nicknamed the Queen of Soul, the late and great Aretha Franklin has a total of 18 Grammys. On top of her 18 Grammys, she has five recordings in the Grammy Hall of Fame, a Grammy Legend Award, and the highest Grammy honor: the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. One of the greatest of time.
Bruce Springsteen (20)
“Dancing in the Dark” by Springsteen is a phenomenal song! Okay back on track. The rocker Springsteen has 20 Grammy wins. Not only does he have 20 Grammys under his belt, but between the 80s and the 2000s, he won a Grammy in each decade. Impressive!
Jay-Z/Kanye (24)
Let’s just do a two-for0one special here: an explanation coming. What does Jay-Z and Kanye have in common? They are tied for the most Grammy wins (24 wins). There’s more! Not only are they tied, Hov & Ye currently holds the record for having the most Grammy wins by a rap artist.
Paul McCartney (18)
Beloved Beatle bandmate Paul McCartney won 18 Grammys throughout his career. Not only as an artist but as a composer. McCartney's Grammy wins are within the rock and pop categories but the most far left-field Grammy award for Best Rap Performance win is his win for “All Day” alongside Kanye West. Talk about range!
Stevie Wonder (25)
Giving an artist their flowers while they’re still alive is important and there’s no one more deserving than Stevie Wonder. Racking up 25 Grammys, Wonder is the only, the only artist in music history to have more than five wins on three separate Grammy nights. Not to mention he is one of the first in Grammy history to have his career highlighted by a musical tribute. Isn’t he lovely?
Quincy Jones (28)
Being an artist, producer, and arranger is an amazing display of talent and no one does it better than Quincy Jones. What’s unique about Quincy’s Grammy wins is not only won 28 Grammys, but his Grammy wins extend through 8-plus categories (from Jazz, R&B, and even the Children’s category)! There are 15 people who have received the Grammy “Legend” Award and Q is one of them.
Alison Krauss (27)
Being the only female artist to have 27 Grammys in the Country category; if she’s not the Queen of Country then let’s go ahead and give her that crown right now.
Beyonce’ (32)
Had to save the best for last and by “the best”, it’s the artist with the most Grammy Awards wins of all time, male or female. That prestigious honor belongs to the one and only Beyonce’ Knowles-Carter. Beyonce cemented her legacy at the 2022 Grammy Awards when producer Jimmy Jam made the announcement after Beyonce won the Best Dance/Electronic Music Album Grammy for Renaissance. She stands alone at 32 wins. There’s officially no doubt that Beyonce is truly one of the GOATs.
