It’s been quite a few days for David Gilmour. His new album Luck And Strange was released on Friday. It had been a long wait since the previous album, Rattle And Lock back in 2015.

He’s also about to set out on a live tour to promote the album. We don’t see enough of Gilmour live so the tour is creating lots of interest. He and his band are currently busy with rehearsals for it.

Gilmour does have a spare moment amongst all that and is obviously keen to be playing live again. He used one such gap in his schedule to delight his daughter Romany and a bunch of pub go-ers in Hove, near Brighton, England. A post on Gilmour’s social media explains more and shares what happened with a great video.

David Gilmour happily crashes his daughter's gig

Romany Gilmour featured on Gilmour's new album, taking lead vocals on one of the many great songs there, “Between Two Points”. He kept that connection up by dropping in, or as Gilmour himself says, “crashing” his daughter's pub gig. It’s only a short clip but a few magic moments are being shared.

We see him get his acoustic guitar ready and suggest an impromptu rendition of the Pink Floyd classic “Wish You Were Here”. If that’s a question the answer is a definite yes! The small crowd looked delighted too.

Gilmour’s tour starts later this month in Rome before moving on to London and dates in the US. He’s been reflecting on the set list and initially said he would be avoiding Pink Floyd songs. But with so many great ones to call on, it seems a shame to drop them all entirely.

Gilmour in a recent interview did recognize that and fans going to his show can expect a couple of classics. “Comfortably Numb” looks likely, but “Money” is almost definitely out. Does his pub showing suggest “Wish You Were Here” is an irresistible favorite? Or one in which he enjoys playing with his daughter as a break from all the others in the ongoing rehearsals? Time will tell, in the meantime, we can enjoy the brief session he shared.
