Kendrick Lamar will be the star of the Super Bowl LIX halftime show

Music fans can assume one performer will not show his face at Super Bowl LIX in early 2025. That would be Drake. He and Kendrick Lamar have an ongoing beef about whatever. Lamar has been selected to be the halftime entertainment at the next Super Bowl.

You might remember that Lamar was also part of the halftime show at Super Bowl LVI in 2022. However, he was not the featured performer. Instead, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige were. Lamar was more of a helping hand.

He is worthy of pulling off his own show, though. Since his debut record came out in 2012, he has ascended to hip-hop royalty. Most seem to agree with him in his spat with Drake, likely because Lamar seems more like one of us (pun intended but still true) as opposed to Drake who seems to need to be the alpha.

The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show will be produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins. Kendrick Lamar's creative direction will be provided by pgLang. The songs will all be Lamar's. One of the great things about hip-hop is most of the best songs feel genuine to the specific artist and no copies will ever be made.

The Super Bowl will be held in New Orleans and will take place on February 9, 2025.

Lamar's 2017 DAMN album received a Pulitzer Prize and the rapper became the first non-classical and non-jazz musician to ever receive the award. That has always been the trick that Lamar could pull off. There is little doubt about his authenticity in the world of hip-hop, but he is also capable of creating real art.

Drake, on the other hand, seems more interested in trying to upset others and create a few solid singles that have no long-term worth. Lamar will always be the greater artist of the two.
