Since we are getting close to end of the year, that means we will see more music awards shows. Or well, just more awards shows in general. I guess executives think people will stay inside more now and watch Taylor Swift win some awards?
And that is probably correct. If Taylor is on our TV screens, we are going to watch, right? But she won't be on all the awards programs in September but will be a huge part of one of them.
One awards show has a bunch of fun celebs involved as well. And maybe some TV or streaming shows you've seen. And one awards show has people you may not have heard of, but likely need to.
Three awards shows to watch in September (one with a bunch of Taylor Swift)
MTV Video Music Awards - September 12th
This going to be a chance for Taylor Swift to make the awards show into her own program. She could win up to eight awards, including Video of the Year for "Anti-Hero" as well as Song of the Year, Best Pop song, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Art Direction for the same song. She's also nominated, of course, for Artist of the Year. If Swift sweeps all of her categories, she will move into second all-time in MTV Music Awards won behind Beyoncé.
The performers on the awards show include a who's-who of pop music. This includes Demi Lovato, Shakira, and Karol G. And, no. The MTV Video Music Awards do not represent a look at the art of music, but it is a fun evening nonetheless.
Primetime Emmy Awards - September 18th
The best thing about the 2023 show might be that the Weird Al film, "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story," is nominated for Outstanding Television Movie. Daniel Radcliffe is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie for the Weird Al role. Sounds pretty perfect, right?
"Elton John Live" was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) and that seems cool. "Lizzo (Live in Concert)" is nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), though with her recent legal issues, her winning might be weird. There are also seven music categories in total.
Americana Music Honors - September 20th
The underappreciated Americana Music Awards will be held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville at 7:30 pm ET on the 20th. Tickets are a bit pricey, though. The nominees for Artist of the Year include Margo Price and Charley Crockett. If you haven't heard their music, it's worth your listen.
