Ten albums the critics rated as the worst ever in history

When they label an album as one of the worst ever in history, is that always fair?

Kiss – Music From The Elder

A concept album from 1981 by the classic rockers Kiss. It was pretty much shunned at the time. Even the band decided not to bother touring it and it rarely features on live setlists. There are some positive reviews over later years but the band members still seem uncomfortable and unconvinced by it. I’m not convinced it’s in the worst ever albums category, though it would be for just Kiss albums alone. No score for the critics.

Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music

Oh my god! What was Lou Reed doing with this album? It’s missing a few things, like songs and melody. In their place, it has noise, feedback sounds, guitar, and amp effects. Just awful, let's move on. An easy point for the critics.

Van Halen – Van Halen III

Somewhat confusingly Van Halen III is the band's eleventh studio album. Given the wide role Eddie Van Halen took in the album and the absence of other regular band members, it has been described as more like a solo album.

The main criticisms are that the album brought nothing new, just more Van Halen style music. Perhaps the critics and reviewers were tired of it by then. Every band needs some new fresh approaches, this wasn't it. As with others above it’s not necessarily a bad album nor a worst ever, it’s just not a great one. A miss by the critics on this.
