While summer is a great time to go to festivals and see a bunch of acts all at once, late summer into fall is a prime time to catch your favorite musical artist on their own tour. We previously mentioned on Audio Phix three metal tours you shouldn’t miss that are happening soon, but there is another you should add to your list. Tool will be coming to a town somewhere near you, most likely.

Tool kicks off their set of shows playing the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY on September 22nd. After that, Tool will play 28 gigs between October 3rd and November 21st. The shows will be a series of Tool headline concerts intermingled with the band playing the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA on October 6th, and the Power Trip Festival in Indio, CA on October 8th.

If you have never seen Tool live, you must. The shows are as intense as the music would imply they should be. Tickets are midrange for a band of Tool’s popularity, which means they are expensive still but not a crazy amount.

Tool tour and Tupac gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

In other news for your Thursday, Tupac Shakur received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Wednesday. His sister, Set Shakur, accepted the star on the late performer’s behalf. If you want to go visit the star, it is located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard.

Tupac was murdered in 1996, so the star comes 27 years after his death. Much more than just a rapper, Tupac acted and was a philanthropist who, among other things, started the C.O.D.E. Foundation which helped keep young people from going to jail and helped decrease crime.

One reason Tupac has seemingly transcended death and remains a vital voice in hip-hop is that he brought people together in life that might not otherwise have come together. Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is great. But really, Tupac is so much bigger than that still.
