Rick Ross is somebody who is used to having his name in the news. It's been a while since he's released a new solo album, but historically, he's released a ton of material, and he's still made waves in the music arena through things like his recent snub of Drake during a Verzuz battle.
He's also well-known for his various business ventures. One of his nicknames is "The Boss," and he lives up to it through lucrative investments in a number of businesses, such as Wingstop.
But Ross's name made the rounds for yet another reason recently. Rather than tying into his music or business interests, this new focus on Ross has to do with his unexpected connection to a rookie member of the Indianapolis Colts, AJ Haulcy.

AJ Haulcy was a standout during his college career, where he played safety for New Mexico, Houston, and, most recently, LSU. It was almost certain that he would be picked during the 2026 NFL Draft, and that's exactly what happened. He was selected in the third round with the 78th overall pick by the Colts.
The selection of Haulcy is a cool moment in its own right, but what made the occasion even more interesting was where he celebrated that evening. Haulcy's draft party, to the surprise of many, was held at Rick Ross's house.
Naturally, media members were quick to ask Haulcy about his ties to Ross. He's been asked about the topic several times since he was drafted. For instance, when he appeared on 93.5 & 107.5 The Fan in Indianapolis, the hosts of the show brought it up almost immediately.
"That's actually my cousin on my dad's side," he revealed to them during the April 29th interview.
He then talked about getting in touch with Rick Ross's sister, discussing their family, and ultimately being offered Ross's house for his draft party. "I was very grateful and blessed to accept the offer and have my draft party there," he said.
Haulcy further elaborated on their relationship later while doing media with the Colts. “Growing up, I always heard, ‘Rick Ross your cousin … and y’all kin to each other,’” he said. He also explained that he had previously met Ross in Miami, where he'd called his dad and let the two talk.
The family ties between AJ Haulcy and Rick Ross are an unexpected revelation for sure, but it was really cool to learn about such a detail. Maybe Ross will make a trip up to Indianapolis this upcoming season to watch when his hometown Miami Dolphins take on the Colts there.
