A notable snub.

Back in 2024, when the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef was in full effect, a bevy of rappers made their allegiances known and took sides in the matter. Among those rappers was South Florida's own Rick Ross.

Drake and Ross had come together for plenty of collaborations by then. The two worked on well-known songs such as "Stay Schemin'," "Money In The Grave," and "Lemon Pepper Freestyle," just to name a few. This made Rick Ross's decision to side with Kendrick Lamar quite notable.

Two years have passed since then, and up until the present, confrontations between the two rappers have mostly stopped. However, Rick Ross recently made it clear during his Verzuz battle with French Montana that he and Drake still aren't on good terms.

Here's how Rick Ross slighted Drake during his Verzuz battle

As Rick Ross and French Montana went back and forth during their Verzuz showdown, they traded hit songs. One of the tracks that Rozay chose to play was "Aston Martin Music" off of his 2010 album Teflon Don. The problem? "Aston Martin Music" features Drake.

Rick Ross decided to handle this by specifically requesting that the DJ remove Drake's part of the song. “I wanna do ‘Aston Martin Music,’ minus Drake’s vocals. No Drake vocals,” he told the DJ.

That slight was only heightened when Ross decided to make another comment in the middle of the song. He did allow for fans to sing Drake's part themselves, but he chose to encourage them to do so by saying, "Sing lil man part." This was obviously a way for Ross to further belittle Drake.

The omission of Drake's part on "Aston Martin Music" may have allowed Ross to take another jab at the Canadian superstar, but it didn't ultimately help him out in the Verzuz. With an outcome that surprised many, French Montana managed to pull out a 10-9 victory.

This new slight by Rick Ross is far from the most disrespectful thing he's done to Drake. After all, he dropped an entire song dissing Drake called "Champagne Moments" in the heat of Drake's beef with Kendrick, on top of coining the term "BBL Drizzy."

At the same time, it's a clear indication that since things flared up between them two years ago, Ross and Drake still haven't made amends. Putting aside any legitimate reasons for animosity, that's a shame considering all of the great music they created as a duo.

Hip-hop is a genre that has no shortage of beef among its artists. Last week's JPEGMAFIA and Earl Sweatshirt dust-up is one recent example, and though it was less fiery, this new Rick Ross snub of Drake is another. With both artists set to drop new music soon, we'll have to see if they want to continue with their hostilities going forward.
