Sabrina Carpenter puts an unlikely spin on her new album cover

Did she save it?

When Sabrina Carpenter first released her latest album, Man's Best Friend, the pushback to the original album art was great. The image of Carpenter on her knees in front of a person (seemingly a man) who was holding her hair appeared demeaning to women. This was not likely Carpenter's intent.

She clearly has listened to people who didn't like the cover; however, as she has produced an alternative cover to the record, which features Carpenter at some kind of gala, and she is standing up, holding on to a man, while looking the other way.

The image is the same kind of one taken of Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller in the late 1950s. It is unlikely anyone would be upset by the alternative cover.

To make things even more interesting (and funny), Carpenter posted the alternative album work on her Instagram page and wrote, "...here is a new alternate cover approved by God."

Of course, as nearly everyone gets upset about a few things, some people will get upset about everything. Perhaps Carpenter saying the new cover has been approved by "God" will ruffle some proverbial feathers. It shouldn't. She is simply trying to be snarky.

The sad part is that, while Carpenter's initial cover for Man's Best Friend might be questionable, she did make the decision to choose that as the artwork. Maybe she should have stuck with only that, as once the image is online, it is never going to go away. She shouldn't feel forced to make a new cover, though she did.

The new album is still two months away from being released. That date is August 29. The hope for Carpenter and her fans is that the songs on the record will be worth all the hype that the album cover mess created. She released five albums before her massively successful Short n' Sweet in 2024.

There is no guarantee that after the initial sales of the new album that there will be enough quality tracks to keep the album near the top of the Billboard album charts. Or maybe Carpenter will deliver her second winner in a row.
