If you didn't know there was going to be a Saturday Night Live UK, here is the good news: The format will follow the way the United States iteration goes, and will be executive produced by Lorne Michaels, who, of course, is SNL. Here is more good news: The guest host and musical guests are worthy of hosting or performing at any edition of SNL.
Maybe even better, on Saturday, March 21, the first show will be hosted by Saturday Night Live icon Tina Fey, and the musical act is Wet Leg, the Isle of Wight group who should have a huge following globally. The band has released two albums, the most recent coming in 2025, called Moisturizer, and both have been fantastic.
The group is also excellent live, so the two songs they will play on SNL UK's first show will kick off the new edition properly. Wet Leg is fun, musically nuanced, and wholly entertaining.
Saturday Night Live UK will be must-see for music lovers
The second episode will be live on Saturday, March 28, and will be hosted by Jamie Dornan with Wolf Alice as musical guest. Wolf Alice recently won the award for best British Group at the 2026 BRITs. The indie group began as Ellie Rowsell on vocals and Joff Oddie on guitar in 2010, but added bassist Theo Ellis and drummer Joel Amey in 2012.
The band has released five albums, the most recent one was 2025's The Clearing, and each has reached No. 1 or 2 on the UK album charts. In the United States, the band has found less commercial success, but deserves to be heard. Maybe Americans who tune into Saturday Night Live UK will find their new favorite band on the March 28 show.
On April 4, Riz Ahmed will play host, while Kasabian will be the musical act. The band falls into the same category as Wolf Alice, as Kasabian has a huge following in the United Kingdom, but not so much in the United States. All of their eight studio albums have reached the top four in the UK, and their last seven have gotten to No. 1.
They are a band that deserves to be listened to, just as Wet Leg and Wolf Alice do. The UK audience for SNL is lucky, as they get to watch the bands live. US fans of the show should stream the UK version for the music alone.
Saturday Night Live UK will be live on Sky One at 10 pm BST, and can be streamed on NOW. Those in the United States will be able to stream the show on Peacock the day after a new episode airs.
