Static-X was set to hit the road for several shows this summer, but has had to cancel. The reason, according to the band's Instagram handle, is that one of the band members has suffered "serious medical issues."
The condition required "immediate" attention. The name of the person from the group with the sudden issues wasn't named, nor should they have been. While Static-X has made some great music that fans adore, this goes beyond making records. Sometimes, private information needs to stay that way, of course.
In the IG post, the statement read, "The situation is unavoidable and requires immediate attention. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, and we promise to return to the stage, bigger, stronger, and faster in 2027."
Industrial metal kings Static-X forced to cancel 2026 tour due to a medical sutuation
This was followed by a more positive statement that included, "Don’t worry about us, we will be fine. Just a bunch of old men with parts that need fixing."
The truth is that none of the band members is "old," as all are in their early 50s. This makes the medical situation more surprising, and maybe more dire. Hopefully, whatever the issue is won't have long-term life-altering effects for the person affected, and the group will be back to doing what they love: Entertaining the masses.
The other positive is that Static-X posted that they hope to return in 2027. Plans do have a way of being pushed back, but let's hope they can come back by then, for what it would mean for all involved in the group and improved health.
The Los Angeles-based band first started releasing albums in 1999 with their debut, Wisconsin Death Trip. In 2025, the industrial metal icons produced a 25th-anniversary limited edition box for the record. The last studio album from the group came in 2024, Project: Regeneration Vol. 2.
The group has released eight studio albums in total, with the highest-charting one coming in 2001, Machine. That record reached No. 11 on the Billboard album charts. Somewhat oddly, for a band that is so excellent live, Static-X has released just one live album.
The hope is that later in 2026 or early 2027, Static-X drops some new tour dates. This would be great for fans, of course, but more importantly, it would mean that every member of the band is healthy enough to go on the road again.
