Swagger in question - Liam Gallagher's take on Manic Street Preachers and Suede

He was so rude...

Manic Street Preachers and Suede are teaming up again for a tour in 2026. This is the fourth time they have done so, and the third time in the 2020s. One would assume it's good business, and the bands get along, but Oasis' Liam Gallagher doesn't like the tour. He said as much on social media.

When asked by a fan what the Oasis singer thought about the new UK tour, Gallagher wrote that the band's "dress like estate agents and if they want bring it (expletive) on," as well as "both (expletive) and lack attitude, swagger and style."

Of course, those opinions belong to Gallagher, and he has a right to them, but millions of others would disagree. Plus, why does Gallagher feel such vitriol now, a bit over 30 years after all three bands began their careers? Suede and Oasis, whether they like the moniker or not, were Britpop gods.

The Manics might be linked to Britpop by some, but most understand their music was different. It began as punk and then evolved from there. The band never sounded much like Britpop.

No matter, Gallagher saying that the band's "lack swagger and style" has been disproven by time. In fact, the Oasis's vocalist's words seem like something he might have said in 1994 when his group was just making its bones, trying to rise above while verbally pushing down others.

There is no need for that now. Oasis won. They became the biggest band in Britain, can still draw large masses when they tour, and will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later in 2026. Not that "class" has been something they hoped to achieve, but making comments about bands that Oasis would see as below them doesn't make much sense either.

Oasis has also toured with Manic Street Preachers before, which came when the run of shows was canceled halfway through due to Oasis calling the gigs off, not the Manics. Still, one would assume that at some point, Liam Gallagher was just fine with James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire, and Sean Moore.

Maybe Gallagher still is and was just having a bit of fun with fans. He doesn't likely truly care if people take what he says on X seriously or not. Hopefully, the members of Manic Street Preachers and Suede, who Oasis has more of a natural rivalry, don't care what Gallagher says either. All the bands are great, and have lots of crossover fans.
