Taylor Swift and the Grammy Awards are simpatico. She might not have the most nominations ever. In fact, she isn't in the top ten. Yet. The key thing is that Swift is only 35 years old and at the rate she is going, she will catch everyone and anyone who rates above her. That includes the exquisite Beyoncé.
Queen Bey leads the all-time Grammy nods with 99. Of course, if she wants to hold on to the top number of Grammy nods, she might have 99 nominations, but she still has a problem. Taylor Swift is gaining on her quickly.
In 2025, Swift has six nominations, and three of them are big ones. She is nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year (both for her brilliant "Fortnight"), and also Album of the Year for The Tortured Poets Department. The only issue is whether the "The" was needed. Maybe just Department of Tortured Poets, but who are we to complain?
Taylor Swift is not expected to perform at the 2025 Grammy Awards
Taylor Swift knows best. She also knows how to make the Grammys her own. In 2024, she did not perform, but when she received one of her numerous awards (who can keep count?), she also announced that she would be releasing the aforementioned album in a short time. She stole the show even though she didn't sing.
Here is the sad part. We need to hope she will do the same on February 2 when the 2025 Grammy Awards are held. Swift is not among the currently announced group of performers set to hit the Grammys stage to churn out some ditties. She is nominated six times, but she will seemingly not perform again this year at the awards ceremony.
Oh, we should tell you. Besides the big three awards mentioned above, Ms. Swift is also nominated for Best Music Video ("Fortnight"), Best Pop Vocal Album (The Tortured Poets Department), and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance ("us." with Gracie Adams). There might still be hope, though.
While Swift is not expected to perform songs, maybe she will accept an award and then her beau, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, will rush on stage and ask her to marry him. Sure, that seems a bit shallow, but we live in a pop world. One where Taylor Swift is queen.
