Most of the world knows now that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. We have seen the photos of him on one knee, appearing to pop the big question, amid a bunch of flowers at a gazebo. The announcement was made on August 26, but that wasn't when Kelce asked for Swift's hand.
At least, that is based on Kelce's father, Ed, and the account he gave to ABC News 5 in Cleveland, Ohio. Kelce asked Swift to marry him within two weeks of the Instagram post that Swift shared. Does the timeline matter? Not really. We just want the couple to be happy.
But let's be real. We also want to know exactly what happened as if we were there to witness it all. (Is that a little creepy? You bet, but that doesn't stop people from wishing it were true.)
When did Travis Kelce pop the important question to Taylor Swift?
Ed Kelce said, "Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago. He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event."
The interesting part of all that is that Swift might have been feeling antsy. How long would that feeling have lasted? Would it have become so overwhelming that Taylor Swift might have eventually given up on Travis Kelce ever asking her? We shudder to think.
In all likelihood, Kelce was just waiting until the right time, and that is difficult to do with the power couple. He has only about four months off from playing for the Kansas City Chiefs (regular season, OTAs, training camp, etc.), but as we recently learned, Swift might have been recording an album when Kelce was having his vacation.
Her latest opus, The Life of a Showgirl, is scheduled to be released on October 3. There is no word on whether Travis Kelce will make a musical appearance on the record, but we can assume many of the songs will be about him.
