Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce choose NFL's most emotional day for happy announcement

Why Tuesday?

This could have happened Monday or Wednesday, but instead, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift chose Tuesday to announce their engagement. Swifties are likely having a party, and we should be happy for the couple. They aren't bad people, and they seem quite excited to have found one another.

But Kelce knows, even if Swift isn't as aware, what a difficult day this can be for some of his soon-to-be former teammates. Tuesday is when each NFL team announces its roster cuts. This means a group of 90 players on Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs will go down to 53. 37 players will lose their jobs, and their childhood dream of playing in the NFL.

This, of course, is not to bring down the mood of Swift and Kelce's news, but the fact remains. Had Kelce said, "Let's wait until Wednesday," the world would have still noticed, but it wouldn't have been a day when many Chiefs players are packing up their lives.

In Taylor Swift's Instagram announcement about the engagement, she wrote, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

The Pair is surrounded by flowers, and Kelce appears to be on his knees. The flowers, it should be noted, also have a hint of Chiefs' colors to them, though this is likely accidental. Maybe.

There was no date for when the wedding might be. Possibly, it is far too early for that. There is little doubt that it needs to be a private affair because one can only imagine how many people would want to crash it. The two deserve their moment.

But let's hope that somewhere Travis Kelce is also thinking about the players who won't be paid to play for the Kansas City Chiefs or any other NFL team. This was an important day for them, too, and one that will change their lives.
