If you haven't yet heard the new Wet Leg album, moisturizer, be warned. Far too many of the excellent tracks that will get stuck in your head. You'll love them at first, get slightly annoyed after a few days of earworms, and then realize you are the one you should be annoyed at.

The band spends too much time making sure their songs are terrific for you to be annoyed by them. To be fair, it appears more people are bothered by vocalist Rhian Teasdale's armpit hair. While not exactly unkempt for Teasdale, people don't like women to have armpit hair (but, oddly, it's acceptable for guys).

The above is important because the singer made a promise on TikTok that should Wet Leg's album unseat Oasis's greatest hits compilation, Time Flies…1994-2009, atop the UK album charts, Teasdale would shave her armpit hair. The band posted, "It’s only fair that you sacrifice the #1 glory of your man duo (Oasis) if you want to rid me of my fluff-tuffts."

Wet Leg beats out Oasis for the top album spot on the UK charts by making a weird promise

That promise appears to have worked.

Wet Leg's record reached number one in its first week of release, while Oasis's 15-year-old compilation slipped to number two. Besides the oddness of shaving the armpit hair, that moisturizer beat out an Oasis best-of album that is a decade-plus old, shows the power of the Gallagher boys as much as it does the greatness of the group from the Isle of Wight.

Wet Leg will likely have a much tougher time reaching the top of the US Billboard charts, though. When he isn't busy throwing chairs off stories-high bars, Morgan Wallen is producing consistently chart-topping albums. In last week's Billboard 200, Wallen held the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.

While Wet Leg's latest album is worthy of getting to the top, even if moisturizer does claim No. 1, it might only last for a week before Wallen's acolytes help the country singer re-take the top. Wallen seems to succeed by acting like he doesn't care if he does. Meanwhile, Wet Leg's Teasdale is willing to shave her armpits to get to number one.
