We are tired of it. Let's be honest. The NFL's Super Bowl shows have been terrific, but there needs to be another step. Taylor Swift needs to do the next one and embrace the love of millions who watch her on television. Maybe even a billion.
Not that this would be anything new for Swift. She has been popular for a long time, and she no longer needs to build up a big following. She already has that. Swifties are nearly peerless devotees, the same as the Beatles had, and maybe Morgan Wallen. (Wallen's are a bit more invisible, though.)
But a pure country singer doing the Super Bowl halftime show? Not going to happen. Instead, the NFL is far more likely to ask a hip-hop or R&B performer, and then a pop star next. Not since Shania Twain in 2003 has a country-leaning artist been the featured artist. So, Wallen should be out.
Several reasons exist for Taylor Swift to play at the Super Bowl LX halftime show
Plus, the league might be afraid that he throws a chair at one of the audience members. The league doesn't like potential litigation.
2026 needs to belong to Taylor Swift. There are many reasons.
First, she has a new album coming out in October, The Life of a Showgirl, and would be able to play some hits and new tunes to the live televised audience. There is no bigger pop artist in the world, either, so even if one doesn't know all the songs, most will know a lot of them.
Secondly, she could be engaged to one of the players involved in the game. Tight end Travis Kelce could be trying to win another Super Bowl ring with the Kansas City Chiefs. Of course, that possibility might be why Swift says no to the halftime show; she wants to watch the game.
Lastly, Taylor Swift has no current plans to tour, it appears, so what better way to get her new tracks to the masses than to play an event that would give her the most exposure? The viewers gained at halftime would be more than any artist could gather in any other way, and would be a ratings boon to the NFL. It's a win-win.
Will it happen? Probably not. We are more likely to see Sabrina Carpenter at the Super Bowl LX halftime show (brought to you by Apple Music, of course) than we are Taylor Swift. Still, a Swiftie can dream.
