Long ago, before the earth cooled, when football games were played, halftimes were a time to go to the bathroom or get something to drink. No more, and that includes even if you are watching the game from home. Maybe even more so.
The Super Bowl has had important musical artists perform at halftime for decades now, but even regular games are getting into the act. The 2024 Christmas Day game between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens featured an iconic show from Beyoncé, for instance.
On Thursday Night Football in Week 4, a game that will be played between the visiting Seattle Seahawks and the home Arizona Cardinals, hip-hop legend Lil Jon will do his thing. The rapper has been a staple on the hip-hop scene for many years, of course, and it didn't hurt that Dave Chappelle's legendary impression of him helped.
Lil Jon will be the halftime show for Thursday Night Football in Week 4
Lil Jon hasn't been making much new music of his own recently, however. His last studio album was Crunk Rock in 2010. He's made a number of singles since then, but his latest was "What We On" in 2023. He hasn't charted on the Billboard rap charts since 2014's "Bend Ova."
Still, the rapper knows how to put on an impressive show live. If you have a chance to tune in, do it. Amazon Prime Video will carry the game, which will begin at 8:15 pm ET (5:15 pm Arizona time).
The national anthem will be performed by the winner of season 16 of The Voice, Maelyn Jarmon. Jarmon doesn't have any solo albums out, but she can definitely sing well. Her rendition should be spectacular.
As far as the game, it should be a good one. The Seahawks and Cardinals are both 2-1 with good defenses. The game might come down to who can get 20 points. That might be all it takes to get a victory.
Also, if you watch TNF every week and keep hearing the same song, that would be "Let 'Em Know" by Shaboozey. The song was recorded specifically for Thursday Night Football.
