The American Music Awards are one of the awards shows that are basically meaningless, at least in terms of the trophies they hand out. What matters most is the Grammy Awards, of course, and the Brits are cool, too. But the AMA? They are just there for fun.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't watch the ceremony, however. The live performances are likely to be excellent, and you never know who might break some news—that includes pop queen Taylor Swift.
The theory some Swifties have is that their idol has rearranged her merch website so that the subheaders now read Apparel, Music, Accessories, and then Sale. Taken all together, that spells AMAs, which, of course, is the acronym for American Music Awards.
How and when you can watch and stream the 2025 American Music Awards
Based on the theory above, there is a rumor that Swift will tell us that she will be dropping Reputation (Taylor's Version) very soon. Her merch website appears to be an Easter egg, and one of her hit songs from that album, "Look What You Made Me Do," had its Taylor's Version played on a recent episode of the series, Handmaid's Tale.
Is that all too obvious for a Swift announcement? Maybe, but it's not like she is giving us the news about a brand new release, only a re-recorded iteration of a previous record.
But if you are one of the millions waiting to see what Swift lets us know, if anything, there is a good way to view it. The American Music Awards will be held on Monday, May 26, starting at 8 pm ET. You can stream the ceremony on Paramount+ with Showtime, DirecTV, or fuboTV.
All of those normally require a subscription, but fuboTV typically offers a seven-day trial, and it is worth it. You might find yourself hooked.
Swift is not slated to perform or present an award, but she is nominated for six. Her winning at least one seems likely, and that might be when she drops any major news.
Jennifer Lopez will host and perform. Others expected to perform live from Fontainebleau Las Vegas include Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson, and Reneé Rapp.
Presenters include Alix Earle, Cara Delevingne, Ciara, Dan + Shay, Dylan Efron, Jordan Chiles, Kai Cenat, Megan Moroney, Nikki Glaser, Shaboozey, Tiffany Haddish, and Wayne Brady.
