Russell Wilson has recently been living the life of an NFL re-tread. He has changed teams every year since 2023, and will be on his third team in three years. He might have found a good home in 2025, though, both for himself and his pop star wife Ciara.

Both are good at business, though. While Wilson is no more than a professional nomad at this point, Ciara and her marketing team have turned her new album's release date into a bit of genius. The key is that Russell Wilson's new team is the New York Giants, and the couple being New York royalty should be a boon to Ciara's career.

She hasn't released a new album since 2019's Beauty Marks, which was not commercially successful. Her latest will be called CiCi and will be released just before the start of the NFL season. Wilson is sure to be mentioned quite a bit in the New York media since he is expected to be the Giants' starting quarterback, and Ciara's name should be mentioned more because of it.

Russell Wilson and Ciara in New York might be the perfect match

The timing of her latest album and the beginning of Wilson's first season in New York is surely not coincidental. If it isn't, great. If it is, then what a brilliant stroke. Ciara is a worthy musical artist, and Russell Wilson happens to be her husband.

The move to New York for the couple is a smart one. If Wilson doesn't work out as the Giants' quarterback, he probably won't find another team to play for. That might not matter overall. Wilson and Ciara can certainly afford to live in NYC, and their tendencies to hang out with the upper-crust of New York society should play in perfectly.

We should also not forget, and Russell Wilson certainly didn't, that the couple celebrated their ninth anniversary earlier in July. Wilson, not one to shy away from how the public might perceive him positively, posted a seemingly heartwarming message to Ciara on X/Twitter.

He wrote, "Happy Anniversary, my queen. You light up my life in ways words can’t explain. Here’s to the journey we’ve walked…and the one we’re still writing together. I love you, endlessly."

Sweet, and likely very genuine. It's just odd someone feels the need to express his or her admiration for someone on social media. Let's hope Ciara felt the love in the more personal moments at home.
