The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominations for 2026 have been revealed. Once again, there is a powerful UK contingent, all vying for a place. This year that Brit Pack of contenders brings plenty of nominee experience to the list, alongside their stunning music contributions.Â
The UK nominees have always added quality to the list, and we’ve seen plenty become inducted over the years. In the last four years, eight UK artists have been successful. We’ve seen Bad Company and Joe Cocker in 2025, Peter Frampton and Ozzy Osbourne in 2024, Kate Bush and George Michael in 2023, and the Eurythmics and Duran Duran in 2022.Â
They followed on from many other legendary and iconic UK stars over the previous years. That reflects a huge wave of rock artists back in the 1960s and 1970s that took UK rock across the Atlantic. Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, in various bands, Rod Stewart, and more have all been inducted.Â
The Brit Pack are back to claim Rock Hall of Fame status
For 2026, it’s very much a case of second or third time lucky for the latest UK artists nominated. There are five of them listed this year, and it’s not their first rodeo by any means. All this year's Brit pack of nominees, listed below, have been nominated previously.
Rock Hall of Fame 2026 - UK artists nominated
- Sade
- Iron Maiden
- Billy Idol
- Joy Division/New Order
- Oasis
Obviously, none have yet been successful, but it would seem likely that some of these acts will make the breakthrough this time. There is a good case for and against each of them. Sade may have the toughest task. Nominated once before in 2024, the band may be overtaken by others in this quest. Their smooth jazz tones, though, have made it this far, so let's not rule anything out.Â
Both Iron Maiden and Billy Idol also have one previous nomination. Iron Maiden in 2023 and Idol in 2025, making this his second consecutive year. Either act would be great at the induction show and bring their British-flavored rock to the stage.
Joy Division and New Order are listed collectively due to the strong crossover of band members. It seems harsh, but it makes sense. They are back after missing out in both 2023 and 2025. Could this be their year? As key figures in the 1980s new wave music, they surely deserve a place.Â
Can Oasis enter the Hall of Fame despite those Liam comments?
That leaves Oasis as the fifth UK contender for 2026. It's their third consecutive year to be nominated. They sit on the list after riding a huge reunion wave in 2025 with their mega-successful Oasis Live ’25 Tour.
While you'd think that should see them safely through, Liam Gallagher's comments about the Hall of Fame are pretty dismissive and suggest he just isn't that bothered about the outcome.
Liam may not be that fussed, but there will be plenty of interest in the nominations list over the weeks ahead. Oasis may well be the most likely to be successful, unless the brothers speak out again and trash their chances. With or without Oasis, you have to think that after all those near misses, we should see at least a couple of this year's Brit Pack make the grade.
