Once upon a time, NFL games were played, and the entertainment value rested entirely on the game. The Super Bowl halftime show changed all of that, though. Big rock and pop acts began putting on at-times unforgettable performances, and people tuned in to the game, sometimes only to see the musical artist.
During the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans game on Netflix last Christmas, Beyoncé put on such an iconic show that Netflix made it a one-off. 13 minutes of pure musical bliss is what it is, and should be shown to millions.
But if you love great rock and roll, the 2025 Thanksgiving game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers will feature a true great. In fact, one that was recently inducted, as part of the White Stripes, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Jack White will be the halftime entertainment.

White is a Detroit native who has won 12 Grammys and produced as many solo albums as he did with the White Stripes: Six. His first three reached No. 1 on the Billboard album charts. His most recent one, No Name, had an odd release and reached only 108. It might be his best solo work to date, however.
The halftime show will be produced by another Detroit native, Eminem.
As for the game and when you can hopefully see White play, it will start at 1 pm ET on November 27 at Ford Field in Detroit. The Lions are 6-4 and a half-game behind the Packers, who are 6-3-1. If the season ended before Week 12 (this weekend's games), the Packers would be in the postseason, and the Lions would just miss the playoffs.
The game will be broadcast by FOX, and the assumption should be that the network shows at least some of the performance, if not all of it. So, if you plan on eating Thanksgiving dinner at 2:30 pm ET, you might want to make sure you are close to a TV or tablet.
That makes the game extremely important, of course. The only negative part for Jack White is that he might miss at least some of it. He is a well-known sports fan and follows all of the Detroit teams.
Two other games will also be held on Thanksgiving. The 4:30 pm ET game will see the Dallas Cowboys host the Kansas City Chiefs on CBS. Post Malone will be the halftime entertainment for that contest.
The final game will see the Cincinnati Bengals visit the Baltimore Ravens. Hip-hop legend Lil Jon will provide your mid-game entertainment.
