On Saturday it was the turn for the Brits to be handed out. The Brits Awards 2024 ceremony and show was held at the O2, London. This is the British Phonographic Industry annual awards and featured performances by many top music stars amongst handing out the trophies.

Raye was the main talking point of the night. When she heard she had been nominated in a record-breaking seven separate categories she described herself as being completely floored.  Imagine how Raye felt on Saturday when she picked up an amazing six Brit awards

That's the most ever in a single year. Raye took the trophies for Artist Of The Year, Best New Act, Best New RnB Act, Best Songwriter, and Song Of The Year for “Escapism. The sixth award was Best Album Of The Year for My 21st Century Blues. She certainly seemed pretty shocked and stunned when collecting her awards as they mounted up. By the time she collected her sixth award, it was getting pretty damned emotional, and no wonder.

Raye also took to the stage to perform for the huge crowd and TV audience. You can see and hear why she picked up so many awards. It was an amazing segment with a medley of her songs backed by a great band. “Ice Cream Man”, “Prada” and the award-winning “Escapism” were all tremendous live.

In other BRIT awards, Dua Lipa won Best Pop Act. Best Hip Hop/ Grime/ Rap Act went to CasIsDead. Calvin Harris secured his third-ever Brit with the award for Best Dance Act. Looking beyond the UK we saw the International Artist of the Year named as  R&B star SZA, perhaps a surprise when up against the all-conquering Taylor Swift.

Boygenius won International Group Of The Year after their Grammys success last month and their self-announced hiatus for a while at least. Miley Cyrus collected the award for International Song Of The Year for “Flower” by video. Global Icon for 2024 was awarded to Kylie Minogue who continues to be a chart-topper and crowd favourite.

Calvin Harris, Jungle, Dua Lipa, Becky Hill with Chase & Status, Rema, and Global icon Kylie were among the live performers on the night making it a great awards ceremony. For Raye though, at this still early stage in her career, it was an amazing and memorable night.
