Senseless battle over Taylor Swift's photo exposé has just begun

Should there be such a fuss?

Maybe everyone should just relax? Of course, it is difficult to tell on social media what is real and what isn't. We know that Taylor Swift releasing her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, is real. The reaction to the photos that came along with the announcement might not be.

As far as the photos, they do coincide with the name of the record. Swift is dressed as a showgirl. What would anyone else expect? Moreover, what should they expect?

Plus, let's be real. While the pop queen is a very talented musical artist, she is just as wise when it comes to business. She isn't going to do anything that isn't well-planned. If she posts a photo, she can feel pretty secure about the reaction she is going to get. That's how a smart businessperson operates.

Taylor Swift's lack of clothing has people in an uproar

The reaction to the photos (and let's be clear, in no way is Swift nude in any of them) is a bit ridiculous, however. Swifties had to swiftly come to her defense, as they should have. Social media makes it far too easy to overreact to something.

One responder, for instance, said, "Does singing have to include nudity? Asking for a friend."

Well, clearly it does not because Swift isn't naked. She doesn't even show more skin than what anyone would see at any given beach. In fact, she likely shows less of what a person might see while they are on vacation.

Other comments seemed to take advantage of an opportunity to take a swipe at other female musical artists. One response read, "Looks as if T.S. is lowering her standards to J.Lo's," while another said, "She has turned into Kylie Minogue."

In other words, aspiring female musicians, feel free to cover up your complete bodies so we can't forget you are female, it seems. Such reactions are silly, especially when male performers do so shirtless quite a bit. Heck, drummer Bill Ward did so in July at the Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath farewell concert.

At least, Swifties were ready to dive into action. On Reddit, one fan defended Taylor Swift by saying, "ffs she is a 35-year-old woman... who is great businesswoman, amazing artist and seemingly kind person. those are traits your child could look up to. she has also right to pose however she likes even if you don't like it."

Exactly. Knee-jerk reactions to a famous person wearing slightly less clothes than they might otherwise do are silly. Aren't there more important things in life to worry about?
