Taylor Swift isn't planning on touring behind her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, but she is likely about to be everywhere you look. If you subscribe to Disney+, have ever liked a Disney film, or have ever lived anywhere, you are going to get a healthy dose of the Swift magic.
She and the mouse-eared giant announced on Monday that the performer will have a docuseries dropping on the streamer on December 12. (12/12, get it? Swift is all about the numbers, and her latest record is her 12th studio album, and so on.)
The series will be a look at her Eras Tour, which broke records in merchandise sales and tickets sold, and whatever other records exist. Swift even released a theatrical concert from the tour, and that broke records, too. She is great live, just as she is great in everything else.
Taylor Swift and Disney team up for some Swiftie magic
The docuseries will have two episodes drop on December 12, two more episodes drop a week later, and two more episodes the week after that.
But wait, because there is more. On the same day, Disney+ will drop a concert film called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – The Final Show. Unlike the 2024 theatrical release, the new concert film will include songs that Swift had on her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department.
The concert was filmed in Vancouver, BC, which was, obviously, the last stop on the Eras Tour. One can safely assume that the final footage will be pristine and glow on the TV or computer screens.
The timing of the Taylor Swift and Disney collaboration is probably not coincidental, either. The entertainment giant (Disney, not Swift) has recently come under criticism for ABC's handling of the Jimmy Kimmel drama. What better way to get people to re-up their Disney/Hulu/ESPN subscriptions than doing something with the most popular musical artist on the face of planet Earth?
