Taylor Swift knows her stuff. Not just music, though. She has proven to know a lot about a bunch of things, and that includes the NFL. Sure, it helps that she is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, just as it would help anyone whose significant other has a different job than they do.
Kelce is important here, though. He and San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle co-host an event every year called Tight End University. The gathering is meant to help fellow tight ends learn their trade a bit better while also having a very good time.
As part of the event in 2025, Taylor Swift performed in a surprise concert. She was reportedly excellent, but we already knew she would be. Swift never fails to impress in such situations. It was her football knowledge that blew one Dallas Cowboys tight end away, however.
Taylor Swift impresses Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson with her football knowledge
Jake Ferguson is a three-year veteran who has been solid, but nowhere near Travis Kelce-type quality for the Cowboys. Maybe he won't be. Maybe he doesn't need to be. But he was extremely happy to have the chance to meet Swift at 2025 Tight End University. So much so that he claims not to have washed his hand since he shook Swift's.
Of course, his statement was only hyperbolic, but the sentiment remains true. But Ferguson wasn't only awed by Taylor Swift's musical talent.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Ferguson said, "I shook (Swift's) hand. I still haven’t washed my hand. She’s so normal. She met my fiancée, (and) my fiancée was like, ‘She’s so nice!’ Not that I was expecting anything different, but like, she knew football. She was talking like, ‘We (the Chiefs) got a big game at (the) Cowboys this year!'"
Here is the only negativity to that last part. The Chiefs and the Cowboys play each other on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas. Recently, seemingly every nationally televised NFL game on a holiday has featured a halftime performance. Kansas City versus Dallas would have been a great opportunity for the league to try to get Swift to play at halftime.
That is very unlikely to happen, however. Maybe Travis Kelce and Jake Ferguson could work together to get the momentum heading in the correct direction to have Taylor Swift perform.
