The rock world is buzzing after two of the genre's biggest names -- one being one of the most famous rock groups of all time, the other one of the scene's biggest up-and-comers -- shared a teaser for what appears to be an upcoming new single.
On Monday, September 15, Yungblud and Aerosmith posted a video clip on social media that shows the former singing in a recording booth alongside Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
The caption, which reads "My Only Angel," revealed that the two artists would soon be releasing a new collaborative single together. "My Only Angel," available to pre-save now, does not yet have a release date.
Yungblud, Aerosmith and Back to the Beginning all at once
While a duet between the two artists excited rock fans both young and old, the collaboration should come as no surprise. The announcement follows Yungblud and Aerosmith's recent performance at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards where Yungblud, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Nuno Bettencourt performed a tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne.
The teaser video for "My Only Angel" arrived only days after Yungblud and Aerosmith also posted a clip of Tyler hugging Yungblud backstage at the VMAs. Tyler is shown saying to Yungblud, "We got a secret and nobody knows it." Yungblud had also posted an image of what appears to be sheet music, with the words "Yungblud/Aerosmith" listed at the top.
It seems this new single was bound to happen, as both Yungblud and Tyler initially crossed paths with one another when they both previously honored Osbourne at his final Back to the Beginning concert earlier this summer.
Osbourne, who died on July 22 at age 76 after a long battle with advanced Parkinson's disease, put together one final performance, celebrating the last time that he or Black Sabbath would ever perform. The show, titled Back to the Beginning, was held on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham and quickly became one of the highest-grossing benefit concerts in history.
Back to the Beginning featured a large number of guest artists who honored Osbourne and Black Sabbath's legacy, including Ghost frontman Papa V Perpetua, Metallica, Mastadon, Gojira, Halestorm, and many more. Several supergroup performances also took place, and were organized by the event's musical director Tom Morello.
Both Yungblud and Tyler were part of these legendary supergroup acts. Yungblud, joined by Anthrax's Frank Bello, Bettencourt, Sleep Token's II, and Osbourne's longtime keyboardist and guitarist Scott Wakeman, performed a cover of "Changes" by Black Sabbath.
Following his Back to the Beginning performance, Yungblud released his live cover of "Changes" as a charity single, with proceeds going toward Acorn Children's Hospice, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Cure Parkinson's.
Yungblud and Osbourne became close friends before the latter's passing, and following Osbourne's death Yungblud vowed to fans that he would continue to honor the memory of the Prince of Darkness for the rest of his life. Currently on the sold-out North American stretch of his IDOLS World Tour, Yungblud has since performed "Changes" at every show on this run.
Tyler performed several numbers at Back to the Beginning, which included Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" as well as covers of "Train Kept-A-Rollin'" and "Whole Lotta Love." The singer was joined by numerous other artists on stage, including Andrew Watt, Chad Smith, Bettencourt, Morello, and more.
Why we need a Yungblud and Aerosmith collab
Between Back to the Beginning and their recent VMA's tribute, it seems both artists have crossed paths enough times to be familiar with one another. While Aerosmith maintain a legacy as one of rock 'n' roll's most notable and influential acts, Yungblud has made serious headway in the rock world this year with the release of his critically acclaimed fourth studio album Idols.
Both Tyler and Yungblud carry an undeniable stage presence and insanely charismatic identity -- both sonically and personally. Many have praised the latter for keeping rock 'n' roll very much alive, and has earned recognition from not just Osbourne and Tyler, but also Billy Idol, Mick Jagger, and Brian May.
While only a brief snippet of Yungblud and Aerosmith's upcoming single has been revealed, it is clear that the release will combine both the addictive grit of Yungblud and the anthemic, classic rock appeal of Aerosmith.
A new era for Aerosmith
Following Aerosmith's retirement from touring last year, the singer's recent performances serve as a beacon of hope for fans. From 2023 to 2024, Aerosmith were on the road for Peace Out: The Farewell Tour. However, the tour was abruptly cut short in August last year when Tyler sustained injuries to his vocal chords.
However, Tyler has been more active on the stage in 2025, with his recent Back to the Beginning and VMA performances. In recent interviews, Perry has dropped hints that Aerosmith just might return to the stage in the future, but touring did not seem likely for the group.
Yungblud's Idols
While Yungblud has maintained a steady and experimental rock career since his initial 2018 debut, the release of his new record Idols earlier this year launched him into global superstardom. Brushing shoulders with rock royalty and topping the charts, the singer is currently on the road for his nearly sold-out IDOLS World Tour.
The release of his latest album, which he considers to be a love letter to rock 'n' roll, as well as his close relationship with friend and mentor Osbourne, has earned the singer-songwriter massive recognition from casual listeners and rock legends alike. Ultimately, it was only a matter of time before Aerosmith took note of Yungblud as well.
