I love the sound of Springsteen in the morning. To be honest, a bit of Bruce, with or without the E Street Band, is pretty awesome and rewarding at any time of the day. Right now in the UK, we have been on a Springsteen high of late.

We’ve recently enjoyed having the boss and the band play live on stage on the latest tour, The Land Of Hopes And Dreams. If you caught any of that in person or via the many social clips, it was a great series of gigs. A high point, among many, was seeing Paul McCartney join Springsteen and the E Street Band on stage for a couple of songs.

The risk after such good times is when you wonder what comes next. How and when do we get a fresh fix of the boss at work? Well, there is great news for everyone with the recent release of a trailer for an upcoming movie, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.

New Bruce Springsteen biopic trailer implies the movie is can't-miss

After seeing Timothee Chalamet go down a storm as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown a few months back, people may have wondered how Jeremy Allen White would fare playing Springsteen on the big screen. It’s quite a different role from his award-winning performances in The Bear

Worry not is the message. That's for three simple reasons. First, the trailer, it’s a very atmospheric 2:36 minutes setting out the basic outline of the new movie. The video is our first chance to see White as Springsteen, and he comes across very well.

It also helps resolve another concern: how will the music sound? There are only short clips, but the harmonica easing in around 45 seconds gets those hairs on the back of your neck standing. A later look and listen as the trailer closes with “Born To Run” onstage is very reassuring, too.

The third reason not to worry about the movie comes from Springsteen himself. White has talked about how the boss has been supportive of the movie. Springsteen has praised White for his acting and singing in the film and happily endorsed White as doing a great job playing him. That's got to be a very decent endorsement for White to note on his CV.

Springsteen making his Nebraska album is the backdrop for the movie

The movie covers the period when Springsteen was making his 1982 album Nebraska. The album marked a significant change in style for the musician. He’d made some breakthroughs beforehand, but was nowhere near the blockbuster legend he is now. Nebraska was a bold move with a folkier tone, recorded in a Lo-Fi style on a 4-track recorder in his bedroom.

The songs switched to an at times despairing approach, and he wrote of blue-collar workers struggling with life and seeming to fail at every turn. Haunting, acoustic-based songs that resonate with so many listeners, both then and now.

Springsteen had planned to make the album with the E Street Band, but rejected the sound from early sessions in favor of his solo low low-key approach. It is a phenomenal album, “Atlantic City” from Nebraska still often featured on his setlist on the current tour.

It’s going to be interesting to see the story behind the making of the album played out on screen. White looks to be the right man in the right place to tell that story. Having resolved the questions over what the movie would be like, that just leaves one last big point.

When will we see it? More good news, it won’t be a long wait, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is scheduled to open in theaters on October 24.
