Juck Juck Grunzie To Play Glastonbury Festival

Yet another local stalwart here in Korea is spending time in Europe this summer. Following in the footsteps of other local Seoul acts like Patients and Dead Buttons, Juck Juck Grunzie will take their ferocious live set overseas to represent the burgeoning Korean indie scene with two dates at the Glastonbury Festival before moving on to more dates in the UK and Germany.

Press Release

Juck Juck Grunzie is a psychedelic noise-rock band from Seoul, South Korea. Marrying irregular rhythms and chaotic soundscapes, Juck Juck Grunzie’s music explores the boundaries between dreams and nightmares to create something dark, mysterious, an
d hauntingly beautiful. Juck Juck Grunize formed as an all-female band (but now they are three females with a male drummer) in 2007.  The group quickly captured attention in Seoul’s indie scene by wearing only lingerie for their first performance!  The group came in second place at 2012’s Hello Rookie finals in Korea and in 2013 they toured overseas in Taiwan.  In November 2013 they also issued their first full-length album, “Psycho.”
Juck Juck Grunzie’s vocalist/synth player(synthesist?) Ahreum Lee spoke with Audiophix about their excitement to be included in such a big music festival, “Glastonbury is one of the largest and most prestigious music fests in the world.  So playing there is like a dream come true!  This is going to be a great chance for us to connect with a new audience and meet lots of other bands from all around the world.  We’re really excited!”
And for those lucky European fans that get a chance to catch Juck Juck Grunzies in the UK or Germany they have a special surprise for you. “We’re going to be playing two new songs during our European gigs.  One of them will be our closing cut and sounds a bit like we’re jamming.  And the other song is about the spoon killer in the movie The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon.  Our bassist, Boong, was really inspired by that flick!”
