Preview: Untapped Austin

Put down your Pabst Blue Ribbon, Austin, it’s time to drink some craft beer and enjoy some damn fine music – the Untapped festival is upon us.

This Saturday, April 18th, you can head down to Carson Creek Ranch to enjoy more than 200 different brews from more than 65 of the nations top craft breweries. Local Texas breweries like 512, Karbach, Deep Ellum Brewing Co, and Lone Pint will be in attendance along with nationally known hop heads such as Dogfish Head, Ommegang, and Harpoon to give you a taste of their best selling libations. As if that weren’t good enough, most of the breweries will have limited releases on hand that you can’t get anywhere else. It’s like going to a bar with an hourly rotating tap of the best beers, ales, and ciders in America, and having the brewers on hand to field any questions you might have.

While you make your rounds from tent to tent, you’ll also be able to enjoy a well rounded line-up of some extremely talented musicians. Headlining the festival, is Atlanta rockers, Manchester Orchestra, who are becoming increasingly well known for their live performances. Each album Manchester Orchestra has released has been an absolute delight, filled with all shades of their unique indie grunge sound.

Feel like cutting a rug while drinking some suds? Black Joe Lewis has got you covered with some of the finest funk this side of the Rio Grande. Prepare to shake your ass with a glass in hand.

Phosphorescent will be in attendance, playing their airy soft rock hits for all of you emotional song lovers to slow jam to.

What would the day be like without a little top notch hip-hop? Jean Grae will provide her brilliant rhymes, beats, and a touch of R&B to nod your head to.

Bear Hands, In the Valley Below, Bop English, and Calliope Musicals will also be pumping out some fresh jams while you peruse the brews.

All of the music, beers, food trucks, and good times can be experienced with one of three ticket options. A concert only ticket ($32), the beer ticket ($39) which comes with full admission, an Untapped tasting cup, and a voucher good for twelve 2 oz cup samples, or the VIP package ($65) giving you everything previously mentioned, as well as early entry to the festival, and access to the side stage VIP area. Untapped Austin is truly everything a beer and music lover could ever hope for in a festival.
